Get Some Passion

I was told not to long ago, that my songwriting advice, is equal to telling people about how to be aware of their own kidneys. While in many cases, this may be so, I like to think that in some unique way, that it doesn't really matter. I'm starting to think that the whole idea of this, is not so much to give songwriting advice, but more to take my mind off of things. It's rather cathartic if you will.

Phylisophically speaking, I write, therefore I am. I don't want to really tell people what to do, or how to live their lives per se, but I can only relate what has worked for me, and hopefully these are things that work for you too, whether it be in the song writing field, or just in general. At the moment, I'm in the process of learning how to write every day as a habit. It makes me feel at least slightly accomplished on some level, and if one day, some of these writings become popular, I can hire someone to put it all into book form. To be honest though, I'm starting to think that books are becoming extinct, slowly being replaced by digital information. E-books, are the future. I don't know how practical that is, as if our race becomes extinct, there is will be no written record. This is not so good from a futuristic point of view.

Anyway, you can clearly see how my mind flutters from one subject to another, and the lack of focus that I have on any given subject. I like to think that in order to be good at something, (in my case I want that something to be songwriting) you don't need focus, as much as you need passion. If the passion is there, then the focus will come naturally, and that is what I want this portion of the blog to be about. Considering I have no focus what so ever, you can see where passion plays an integral role in everything you do, and that I believe is what I want people to take away from this article, if nothing else!
